I Am Number Four from 2011 was adapted from the first book in the Lorien Legacies series and starred Alex Pettyfer, Teresa Palmer, and Timothy Olyphant. While franchises like The Hunger Games would blossom, others like Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant would stall at one entry. I will certainly be reading the books after this.The first movie was supposed to kick off a brand new franchise but will an I Am Number Four sequel ever happen? Following the huge success of the Twilight movies, studios quickly snapped up other young adult book properties that could be turned into movie franchises. It's one of those films that was exactly what I wanted at the time. Gun battles, exciting foot chases, martial arts, and all of it filmed so you can tell precisely what is going on. The action was fantastic and I felt really involved. Makes friends with the creepy conspiracy kid and so on. Pettyer falls fro the ex of the high school hero jock etc. You get your cliched high school characters, and their usual relationships. Perhaps I was in the mood for something simple. I Am Number Four is nothing new at all, but it does do everything well. He has looks and charm, and is able to carry enough emotion when he needs to. Pettyfer has all the key ingredients to be a leading man. There are 9 special kids with different powers. They are being hunted as they are part of an alien race wiped out on their home planet by the Mogadorian. I Am Number Four sees Alex Pettyfer star as a boy that must run from location to location, along with his guardian Henri. We've done wizards, vampires, and now we have aliens. Usually focussing on an outsider that belongs to a bizarre otherworldly group. In this day and age, everything is trying to be the new teen driving force of fantasy fiction. I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. Even the whole teenagers finding themselves going from number to individual is pure "The Prisoner."(At least, Sarah is also included in this conversation.) Like Sam says, the classics are usually the best. Along these same lines, the movie could have definitely used more mystery than a pyrotechnic blonde(Teresa Palmer) on the loose. By comparison, the late lamented "The Fades" pulled it off with its original and weird mythology. That lasts all of five minutes before John protects Sam(Callan McAuliffe) from a bully which Sarah(Dianna Agron, surprisingly good) takes notice of.īernie Kosar poster and cute dog notwithstanding, "I Am Number Four" is a mediocre and contrived science fiction variation on "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," replete with the beginnings of a Scooby Gang, but lacking much of its magic and heart, despite Marti Noxon being credited as one of the movie's writers. Unlike every other single teenager in the history of the world, four, now under the name of John Smith, wants to go to high school which Henri reluctantly permits as long as he does not bring any unwanted attention to himself. As a result, number four(Alex Pettyfer) gets a new scar which is a signal for his wat.protector Henri(Timothy Olyphant) to relocate them from Florida to Ohio. Where there were once nine hopes for an alien race, now there are only six, after the third(Greg Townley) is killed by the evil Mogadorians.
