
The Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance program complements a variety of health care settings. Some require commitment to a whole course of classes over a period of weeks, while others are provided on a drop-in basis. The Atascadero Senior Center is open and welcoming guests again.It was closed for about a year and a half because of the COVID-19 pandemic.Now, the organization is looking for new members and volunteers.The Senior Center hosts various programs including Bunco games, a Tai Chi group, a discussion group, and other classes and gatherings. They also need volunteers to run the front desk and keep programs going.Community members are invited to learn more about the Atascadero Senior Center at an Open House during Colony Days from 10 a.m. The Senior Center will be offering tours of the facility and goodie bags for seniors and children. The Senior Center is also partnering with Walgreens to offer free flu shots during the event.The Atascadero Senior Center is located at 5905 East Mall. Stand with your feet spread about shoulder-width apart and your arms relaxed at your sides. Each ‘episode’ is shorter than a typical live class, but you can work on each for as long as you like before moving on.In addition to the above, TCF runs special intensive trainings and free qigong ‘tunings’. Currently all these are run online, but at some point we will return to in-person trainings. Unlike the recordings of the live classes, which are only a fall-back to attendance at the live event, these are courses designed and edited to allow you to study at your own pace.

"If it hurts, don't do it!" or "try this way so it doesn't hurt". Our instructor is very good at supporting each member of the class to adjust to what works for them. Meditation and movement has improved my strength, breathing, balance and my state of mind.
